The Italy Police Department would like to invite the community in participating in National Night Out tomorrow, Tuesday, October 4th.

It’s America’s Night Out Against Crime!

The “28th Annual National Night Out” (NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, has been scheduled in Texas for Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 and is sponsored by Target.

Last year’s National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 37 million people participated in National Night Out 2010.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

The celebration will begin at the Italy Police Department at 6:00pm with a “Let’s Walk For Safety” parade. The walking parade will continue from the police department through the heart of Italy and will end at the George E Scott Memorial Park located at 400 College St. The Italy Police Department will host a family friendly event at the park from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. There will be face painting, bounce houses, music, free food, drawings and more!
