Ellis County Shooting Sports 4-H Club Fun Shoot Results

4-H’ers from around Texas came together in Waxahachie on Saturday, September 17, at the Ellis County Sportsman’s Club to compete in the Ellis County Shooting Sports 4-H Club Fun Shoot. Participants in the shotgun fundraiser event competed in 100 rounds of skeet and trap as well as fun games such as “Snipe” and “Wolf Chase.”

Hunter Hinz of Italy won the Junior Champion Buckle while Rhett Newton of Waxahachie won the second place trophy in the junior division.

In the intermediate division, for kids ages 10 to 13, Austin Reith of Plano won the champion buckle. Michael Edwards Jr., of Red Oak placed second with Jarrett Conner of Huntsville coming in third.

Trey Ehrehart of Fort Worth busted 88 clays to clinch the champion buckle in the senior division, for youth ages 14 to 18 years old. Waxahachie’s Hunter Garcia finished second, with Lindsey Williams of Red Oak in third place. Garcia also won the Wolf Chase game.

As a fundraiser event, adults also competed in this open 4-H event. Izaac Tickner of Huntsville was first, with David Wilkie of Corsicana in second and Tice Hopkins of Waxahachie in third.

Garcia and Ehrehart paired up as a team for an easy win in the team category. Connor and Tickner finished as the second place pair. Riley Kujawa of Waxahachie and Larry Sauls of Scurry finished as the third place team and won a team award for Snipe.

The Ellis County Shooting Sports 4-H Club is open to all youth of Ellis County interested in learning firearm safety and basics about many types of shooting sports such as shotgun, air rifle and archery.
