Recent letters to the Italy ISD George Scott Scholarship Board
Recently the board of the Italy ISD George Scott Scholarship Fund received letters from two scholarship recipients. These two ladies were the valedictorian and salutatorian from the 2007 graduating class.
From Kalin Davis (2007 IHS Salutatorian)
Dear Mrs. Owen,
I would like to start this letter out by informing you and the George Scott Scholarship Board that I have graduated from Stephen F. Austin University this past May (2011). I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
I am the Sophomore English teacher at Huntington High School. I am so excited about this new chapter in my life. Thus I owe so much to you and the Board for your support.
From Megann Mae Lewis Harlow (2007 IHS Valedictorian)
Dear Mrs. Owen and George Scott Scholarship Board,
I just wanted to thank you all for your part in supporting me through my first four years of college. It has been a blessing and I am extremely grateful. In 2009, I graduated from Vernon College with a dual degree, Associates of Arts & Associates of Sciences, and was named Student of the Year. This past August at Hardin-Simmons I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Environmental Science and am now enrolled in the Environmental Management Masters program here.
I still have a couple of semesters left but once I finish I have many options. Job opportunities include working for government agencies, oil companies, or managing company energy consumption. I am also looking into furthering my education so that I can have the option to become a college professor.
You have made this all possible for me. One day I will give back to the George Scott Scholarship fund and help make it all possible for someone else.
