There were lots and lots of people, booths, a band, a dunking booth and fun galore at Milford’s National Night Out celebration Tuesday evening.

The Standing Stones band was playing many Praise and Worship songs. One in particular was We Are The Body a well known Christian song by Casting Crowns. The members of the band are: April Bradley vocal, Rebecca Jackson on bass, Joy Rose piano, Jesus Ojeda on the Drums, Michael Aguilar on the acoustic and vocals, Eric Marion on electric guitar and vocals. April said, “We are a part of the First Baptist Church in Milford. We are out here tonight celebrating the time with the community. We are singing and praising God and having a good time.”

Milford Police Chief Carlos Phoenix was once again in the dunking booth letting children throw a ball and dunk him in the water. Chief Phoenix said, “It is all for the kids. This National Night Out we have a great crowd again, we are just having fun. We are trying to let the kids know that the police officers are good people, we are normal human beings, we are here for them, we can be friends with them and we can help them. This is all for the kids.”

It was so much fun to see the expressions on the little children’s faces when they hit the bulls eye and Chief Phoenix fell in the water. Many of them were giving each other the “high five” and feeling pretty good.

There was an added attraction this year and that was students from the Unified Tae Kwon Do School in Hillsboro. The way they can break a board is amazing. Not only can they break boards with their hands but they can really kick. Wiley Johnson is a member of this school and said, “We are here to demonstrate board breaking and our patterns.”

The Milford Fire Department was selling barbecue and chips, Mount Moriah Baptist Church was selling hamburgers and the Milford police were giving a way free hot dogs to kids twelve year-olds and younger.

We can’t forget the bounce house. Kids were flying high in the bounce house, boys and girls were laughing and having lots of fun.

It was another successful National Night Out in Milford, Texas.
