IYAA Football & Cheerleading vs. the Mildred Eagles
IYAA C-Team (K-2nd grades) vs. Mildred:
Laveranues Green runs back the opening kickoff for the C-Team Gladiators to give Italy a quick 6-0 lead. With the score 19-6 at halftime thanks to two more touchdown runs, one by Green and another by Darrin Jackson and a 1-point conversion run by Jaylon Wallace, head coach Aaron Itson spread the ball around in the second half. Offensive linemen, Dustin Rose, Isaac Gray, Gabe Martinez each had carries as did defensive tackle Canaan Richters who took Mildred’s best hit and didn’t fumble. Italy’s C-Team improves to 4-2 on the season with a 25-12 win over the Eagles.
IYAA B-Team (3rd & 4th grades) vs. Mildred:
Ricky Pendleton goes the distance on Italy’s first offensive play of the game to put the IYAA B-Team on top 6-0. Italy’s offensive line continues to impress starting with center Michael Gonzalez, Brennon Sigler, Rocklin Ginnett, Nicholas Gomez and Jayden Barr leading the way. Backs Preston Rasco, Bryce DeBorde, Parker Richters, Eric Martinez and the battering ram, Ty Cash, are a nice compliment to Pendleton who is capable of turning in a big play at any moment. Italy’s B-Team improves to 3-3 with a 26-7 win over Mildred.
IYAA A-Team (5th & 6th grades) vs. Mildred:
In what could very well be a Superbowl preview, a battle between the league’s “A” Division unbeaten teams resulted in a decisive victory by the Mildred Eagles who improve to a 6-0 record after defeating the IYAA A-Team Gladiators 18-0. Italy’s 5-1 record positions them at second place behind Mildred in the “A” Division standings with only two games left in the regular season.
IYAA football and cheerleading will travel to Scurry-Rosser on Saturday, October 29 to take on the Bobcats. Both C-Teams will kick off the day starting at 9:00 a.m., followed by the B-Teams at 10:00 a.m. and the A-Teams at 11:30 a.m. Good luck to all!
