IYAA Football and Cheerleading Signups will end Saturday, August 20th. We still need players and cheerleaders, so if you would like to sign your child up, this article lists the signup options available to parents. All past players as well as newcomers are welcome to sign up!!!

IYAA Football Signups being held thru Saturday, August 15

In person signups will be on Saturday, August 8, from10:00 a.m. to 12:.00 p.m. and again on Saturday, August 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Both signup days will be at the Upchurch Ballpark in Italy.

Every year the IYAA says goodbye to its veterans and welcomes in a new group of young Gladiators, but one thing has always remained the same, team spirit never fades and this year’s football players and cheerleaders certainly carried the torch against Mildred on Saturday.

IYAA Superbowl games and Bonfire Party set for Saturday, November 20

to the IYAA Bonfire Party on Saturday, November 20, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the
home of Darla & Gary Wood located at 1326 L.R. Campbell Road in Italy.

The IYAA would like to invite Gladiators fans to Blooming Grove on Saturday, November 20, for the NESA 2010 Superbowl games between Italy’s C-Team Gladiators (K-2nd) and the Ferris Yellow Jackets, starting at 10:00 a.m., followed by the IYAA B-Team Gladiators (3rd & 4th) and the Scurry-Rosser Wildcats starting at 11:30 a.m.

With each team having a bye next week, the IYAA’s cheerleaders and players had much riding on their games against Mildred on Saturday. All three IYAA teams (A, B and C) played hard and after the final buzzer sounded, signaling the last Italy games of the regular season, two IYAA teams had definitely qualified for the playoffs while the third waits for their fate.

Italy — With all the fanfare of a high school football game, the IYAA (Italy Youth Athletic Association) wrapped up their final home games of the 2010 football season while entertaining fans throughout the day. IYAA players, cheerleaders and fans from both Italy and Rice enjoyed banner busting, flag waving entrances, big hits, exciting plays, sideline cheers and halftime performances by the IYAA cheerleaders.

In Week 4, IYAA football players and cheerleaders traveled to Palmer to take on the Bulldogs in their own back yard. There were plenty of big plays and even bigger smiles, and by days end, it’s the experiences gained and the camaraderie shared that coaches and mentors hope will benefit our local youth in their future endeavors.

IYAA Sports enjoys successful Homecoming against Ferris

IYAA Sports enjoyed successful Homecoming football games against the Ferris Yellow Jackets on Saturday. After Italy’s week one games were postponed due to inclement weather, IYAA players and cheerleaders were excited to finally show their skills in front of the home town fans.

The IYAA (Italy Youth Athletic Association) invites fans to to be a part of the IYAA Homecoming games and festivities including the Italy High School Homecoming Parade on Friday, September 17 and the IYAA football games on Saturday, September 18, against the Ferris Yellow Jackets.
