WHS three part college series opened to Italy High School juniors and seniors

WHS to Host Three Part College Series for Students and Parents

Additional Session to be offered on “How to Pay for College”

Waxahachie High School will host “College Night 101” – a three part series for junior and senior students and their parents beginning Monday, November 7, 2011.  College Night 101 was organized in an effort to allow students and parents the opportunity to have their college-related questions answered in a smaller, more intimate setting.  Students and parents can choose which night to attend based on the colleges and universities that will be represented.

On each night, various institutions will present information about their university and be available for students and parents to answer questions.  All information sessions will be held in the WHS cafeteria from 7-8:00 p.m. and refreshments will be served.  The schedule is as follows:

Monday, November 7th:  SMU, TCU, Baylor and SAGU
Monday, November 14th:  UNT-Denton, UT-Arlington, Tarleton, UNT-Dallas and SFA
Monday, December 5th:  TSTC, Mountain View Community College Welding Program and Navarro College John Deere and Oil & Gas Technology Programs.

WHS will also host a session on college funding to give students and parents information on how they can go about paying for college tuition.  On Monday, November 28th in the WHS Fine Arts Center, the high school will host “Ultimate Money Skills: College Funding” in an effort to ease concerns and provide ideas on how students and parents can pay for a college education.  During the one hour program, those in attendance will learn how to plan for and manage college costs; the types of financial aid that are available; how to develop a college funding strategy and much more.  This session is for all students in grades 9-12.
