Letter to the Editor: Andrew Freeman follow-up
In July of this year we published information regarding First Lieutenant Andrew Freeman, a former Italy student, who went in harm’s way for his country and was injured in Afghanistan. We have received the following update from Andrew’s parents, Ray and Roma Freeman.
I hope this finds everyone well. The holiday season will be upon us shortly and I hope it will be filled with family, friends and much joy for everyone. We all have so much to for which to be thankful.
It has been a while since I have sent an update on Andrew and some have asked so I thought now might be a good time.
He is still at his home base in Germany and is able now to work each day, but has not yet been released for normal physical training, etc. He is busy now with helping get things organized and ready for the rest of the troops to return to Baumholder from their deployment and that should take place over the next few months.
He is doing physical therapy and still having doctor’s visits as they monitor his progress. He still has quite a bit of soreness but the fiscal therapy, etc are helping and he is continuing to get better. He also does not yet know the full impact of some of the nerve related damage and probably will not for some time to come.
All that said, he is improving and we are still hoping for a full recovery from all injuries. He is able to work now and stay somewhat busy so that is helping. And he is anxious for his troops to return safely and that will probably help him a lot. The others injured in the battle are also recovering and making good progress.
So for now he is making good progress and we are hopeful for a good and as full as possible recovery.
Thank you again for all your prayers and support for Andrew and for us. It has meant more to us than you can possibly know. Thank you!
Please continue to keep Andrew and all our soldiers in your prayers.
