The Stafford Elementary Honors Assembly honored students for their work during the first and second six weeks of school. The gymnasium was filled with smiling parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles and students. But the biggest smiles were the ones on the students faces when Jason Miller (principal) handed each of them their awards.

Megan Richards (Italy ISD senior ) was asked to say words of encouragement to the students being that she walked these very same halls and was able to achieve academic success. She said, “Mr. Miller and Mr. Joffre asked me to come talk to the kids. I want them to accept my challenge of working harder in school because that will affect their future. If they work hard they will have a lot of opportunities to chose from.”

Currently, Megan has been accepted by Tennessee Tech, Abilene Christian, Alabama State and is still waiting to hear from other colleges.

Principal Miller was very happy with the students’ achievements and said, “It is important that we recognize our students. We are developing the students at the pre-k and kindergarten level. We want them to understand that academics are important. We had an excellent example by the Italy High School student Megan Richards that spoke to the students today. She walked the same halls as these students and she has shown them that through hard work and good grades you can accomplish your goals. They can see the reality.”
