Cedric Overton, Italy resident, was at the wrong place at the wrong time early this morning. Apparently, the victim of a random shooting, Cedric ran into a Dallas convenience store and suffered three gunshots, one to the back and two to the arm. One bullet shattered his elbow. Luckily, others passed through the body and missed any vital organs. Overton was rushed to Charlton Methodist Hospital where he was taken to surgery to rebuild his elbow.

Mr and Mrs Overton, Cedric’s parents, were already in Dallas for another reason. Mr. Overton was taken by ambulance on Sunday to Baylor downtown, apparent victim of a stroke. Mrs. Overton has been with Cedric’s dad in ICU when the phone call came. According to Mrs. Overton, church members were immediately available to help transport her from one hospital to another.

At this time, both patients are recovering. Please pray for the Overton family as they need all the support this town can muster.
