The title is not a play on words. With all the reality TV shows highlighting talent, American Idol, The Voice, So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With The Stars, the public now realizes there are talented performers in every nook and cranny of this great nation. Believe it or not, that fact includes Italy, Texas.

With the help of band teacher, Erika Miller, Italy High School recently hosted a student talent show in which the audience enjoyed singing, comedy and skit. All to show how much local talent there really is.

Ty Windham and Gus Allen, students at Italy High School, emceed a talent show highlighting other IHS students. Judges in place, the talent began with Katelynn Smith and Ty Bassett, Oleshia Anderson and Vanessa Cantu, Justin Robbins and Quintera Washinton. A One Act Play was performed by Logan Owens, Tia Russell, Katelynn Smith and Haden Wood. Emily Stiles sang Angel by my Side.

It didn’t take long for the three judges, Andi Windham, Jesus Perez and Erika Miller, to decide the winners. The vocal winner was Katelynn Smith and Ty Bassett and the group winner was the One Act Play. The winners won bragging rights instead of a contract with a big name company.

This was a lot of fun and hopefully this will become an annual event in which the whole town can see the talent we have right here.
