Italy Police Officer, Eric Tolliver, placed 5th overall in the Marksman Challenge Invitational held in Decatur, Texas  June 9th. The competition was based on and created by a competitor of “Top Shot”, which is a shooting and weaponry competition show on the History Channel.

The event lasted all day and included competition with 8 different weapons, including; revolvers, 1911’s, assault rifles, and primitive weapons such as tomahawks and knives. In one of the stages, Tolliver was required to shoot two revolvers simultaneously at targets 10 feet away. At the end of the competition, Tolliver ranked 5th out of 20 shooters. Because of his success, Tolliver was invited to compete in another Invitational with competitors from previous competitions.

Tolliver said, “I strive to represent the Law Enforcement community and our department well. Each time I can be a part of a quality event, it provides experiences and resources that make me a better shooter and in turn strengthens our firearms program with the department.”

As Chief, I am very proud of Tolliver and his accomplishments. His desire to improve our firearms program and his own abilities will definitely improve our department.
