Local law enforcement and IMPACT Communities, a program of Drug Prevention Resources, will host the semi-annual Prescription Drug Take Back Event on April 28, 2018. Officers will collect unused and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications at the following locations:

Italy PD TXDOT STEP results

Between December 15, 2017 and December 31, 2017, The Italy Police Department participated in a TXDOT STEP DWI enforcement program. During that time extra patrol officers worked focusing on impaired drivers in an effort to make the holiday season safer for all motorists. The officers made fourteen (14) stops and issued eight (8) citations.

Italy PD to take part in S.T.E.P. over the holidays

Italy, Texas, December 13, 2017 – The Italy Police Department will take part in a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. Additional officers whose primary focus will be to locate and arrest impaired drivers will be on duty.

Italy’s National Night Out planned for Tuesday, October 3, 2017

The Italy Police Department will host the annual National Night Out for 2017 at the Upchurch Field, 200 Dilworth, on Tuesday evening, October 3, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Italy Fire Department will also have their fire truck at the event. Be sure to stop by and visit with our firemen.

Help the Italy Police Department “Stuff the Bus!”

The Italy Police Department invites you to help stuff the bus. Please help us in assisting local children in need. You may drop off your new school supplies and backpacks in the school bus box at City Hall located at 161 W. Main Street. The donation box will be available August 1st through August 31st.

Hey, I just wanted to apologize for causing y’all a huge problem with the rat nesting. I had no idea or even crossed my mind that I was contributing to the delinquency of rats. So as soon as I was made aware by Chief Taylor I stopped and tried to clean up food on the ground and donate rat traps.

New Italy Police Chief comes on board April 3rd

Chief Michael Taylor was born in Talladega, Alabama in 1957. His family moved to Grand Prairie, Texas in 1961 and he grew up attending Grand Prairie public schools. At age 17 Chief Taylor enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as an Aviation Crash Fire Fighter and Rescue Technician. He was honorably discharged in 1978, and headed home to Texas.

Shop with a Hero Shopping

Shop With a Hero is a local organization that raises money so that Italy ISD students that are chosen by their teachers can go shopping for Christmas gifts for themselves and their family members. Each student may spend up to $300 each at WalMart.

On Wednesday, December 14th, 2016 @ 10:30am, the Italy Police Department in partnership with McDonald’s will be presenting Angel Tree gifts to the residents at the Trinity Mission Rehab Center / Nursing Home at 220 Davenport St. Italy, TX 76651. We would love for all to attend.

Italy PD is taking back unwanted prescription drugs

On Saturday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. the ITALY POLICE DEPARTMENT, in association with IMPACT COMMUNITIES, which is an initiative of DRUG PREVENTION RESOURCES (www.dpri.com) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its 12th opportunity in six years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

Waxahachie, Texas – Local law enforcement will host a Prescription Drug Take Back on October 22, 2016. Officers will be collecting unused and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications for appropriate disposal between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. This program is a partnership of the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, Waxahachie Police Department, Waxahachie ISD and IMPACT Waxahachie, an initiative of Drug Prevention Resources, Inc.

From Chief Beckham regarding alleged kidnapping in Italy

On 10/18/16 around 730am, a 911 call was made from a store clerk in reference to a possible aggravated kid-napping. The Exxon store clerk had told dispatchers that a female had made an outcry indicating that there was a man holding her a gunpoint against her will.

National Night Out 2016

The Italy Police Department sponsored National Night Out (NNO) on October 4th at Upchurch Field. Many from the Italy community and Ellis County attended. The night was full with music, food, door prize drawings, games and fun.

Shop With a Hero Raffle Winners

The Shop With a Hero raffle was held today and was a big success thanks to everyone that purchased tickets. A big thank you also goes to the Spring Market for allowing us to hold the raffle drawing there and for their employees picking the winning tickets.

Big plans underway for 2016 National Night Out in Italy

The Italy Police Department is planning many activities for this year’s National Night Out (NNO). Upchurch Field in Italy will come alive with all kinds of entertainment, food and fun this year on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Jon Mathers is the guest disc jockey for the evening so Chief Beckham is requesting that all the children come and “wobble with the chief”.

5th Annual Guns vs. Hoses a Success

Even though the weather did not cooperate on Saturday, the 5th Annual Guns vs. Hoses fundraiser was a success. Because of weather conditions, the fireworks show was cancelled.

The Italy Police Department Youth Police Academy is modeled after the Citizens Police Academy and is designed to give young people the opportunity to learn about the department and its operations and to demonstrate the benefits of law enforcement and community policing in our city.

Italy Police Department provides Prescription Drug Drop Box

The Italy Police Department partnered with IMPACT Communities, a program of Drug Prevention Resources to provide the citizens of Italy, Texas and surrounding communities an environmentally safe way to dispose of any expired or unused Prescription and Over-the-Counter medications. This includes pills, liquids, and pet medications, but excludes inhalers, syringes and sharps.

Suspects in Custody

I wanted to inform the City of Italy that progress had been made in the motor vehicle thefts which had occurred in November and up to this past week. There were a total of three stolen vehicles that were recovered in the City of Lancaster last week. I personally want to thank some of the citizens for their assistance in this matter.

The Italy Police Department are putting final plans together for the 2015 National Night Out to be held on Tuesday, October 6th. from 6pm to 9pm This year’s event will be held at the Upchurch Ball Fields where two of the fields will be used for friendly kickball games for ALL ages.

Guns vs Hoses Annual Softball Game with Fireworks

I hope everyone can come out and support this great program which gives back to the kids every year. We are switching it up a little this year by having some of the Italy High School playoff softball girls play with both the Police Officers and Firemen this year. This should add some excitement to the game and it gives the graduating seniors one more chance to play on their field. We encourage everyone to come out and have some fun and watch the Fireworks display after the game.

Great Texas Warrant Roundup

Representatives of Law Enforcement Agencies and Courts from more than 300 jurisdictions across Texas, including the Italy Police Department, announced today combined efforts to host the 2015 Great Texas Warrant Roundup beginning Saturday, March 7th.

On December 15th, the Italy Police Dept. and the Italy Fire Dept. joined forces and took 6 Stafford Elementary children Christmas shopping at Wal-Mart. After all of the shopping was done they had lunch together at CiCi’s pizza. Then they all ventured back to the Italy Community Center to wrap the presents and had cookies and punch for a snack. The Police Officers and Fireman had as much fun as the kids did shopping.
