Homerun Derby information:

Always an exciting warmup to the charity game, the Homerun Derby has gained popularity with several batters from Italy and our neighboring towns giving it their best swats. Who will have the bragging rights this year? Participation details are listed below:

  • Entry Fee is $10
  • Total of 10 Swings per participant
  • A homerun has to go over the fence to count in fair territory
  • The winner is the person with the most homeruns in the 10 SWINGS
  • 1st place winner will receive Texas Ranger Baseball Tickets
  • In case of a tie there will be a 5 SWING playoff to determine the winner
  • Money must be paid prior to the Homerun Derby
  • You may enter as many times as you want until the cutoff time at 7:00 p.m.


Guns vs Hoses Charity Softball Game Information:

Immediately following the Homerun Derby will be the main event, a charity softball matchup between the Italy Police Department and the Italy Fire Department. The game, as wells, the ensuing fireworks show, make for a fun-filled family event. Details are listed below:

  • Saturday, July 5th, 2014
  • Italy High School Softball Fields, 300 S. College Street
  • Free Admission
  • Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
  • Homerun Derby 6:00 p.m.
  • Softball game at 7:15 p.m.
  • Fireworks display at dark!

Lots of Activities for kids before and during the Softball Game including Bounce Houses, snow cones, food, police cars, fire trucks and a concession stand.

In addition, there will be raffle tickets sold for a chance to win various prizes:

  • $1 for 1 raffle ticket
  • $5 for 6 raffle tickets

All the proceeds benefit the annual Shop With a Hero Program which provides a Christmas to remember for specially selected Stafford Elementary students.
