Last Thursday night was Avalon Elementary’s meet the teacher night. As you walked into the school you were greeted with big smiles as Mr. Tennery (elementary principal) and Dr. DelBosque (Avalon ISD Superintendent) welcomed all the students and parents.

Tennery was very happy to be greeting all the students and parents. He said, “I am so exited to start this new year of school. I love seeing all the smiling faces as the kids meet their new teachers.”

Dr. DelBosque could be seen telling all the students hello and welcome back to school. He said, “I am so happy to see old friends, students, new students, parents and new parents. It is going to be a great year.”

Mrs. Hernandez (third grade teacher) was happy to see her students. She will be out on maternity leave and will be returning sometime in November. Elsabe Munger will be taking over her class until she returns. Elsabe said, “I am very excited to be teaching Mrs. Hernandez’s class. I can’t wait to get started. I want to make this an easy transition for the students and give them a good foundation for Mrs. Hernandez to be able to build on when she returns.”

Mrs. Holley (second grade teacher) was very excited to meet her new students. “I am super excited to be here tonight and meet all my new students. I have an awesome group of kids this year. I hope to teach my students everything they will need to know to be ready for any challenge that comes their way.”

Teachers and students at Avalon Elementary are eager to start their new year of school.
