Stafford Elementary has a new P.E. Teacher
Melissa Fullmer loves kids and loves sports. These two thing are her life. So what better position for her than being a Physical Ed teacher for Stafford Elementary and head girls basketball coach for Italy High School?
Melissa is thrilled to be here working for Italy ISD. She came to us from Red Oak High School after working there for five years. For four of those five years she was the head girls basketball coach. She also was the assistant volleyball coach and assistant softball coach during her time at Red Oak High School.
A graduate of North Eastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Fullmer attended college on a basketball scholarship.
Being a teacher was something Melissa always wanted to do. She explained, “I always wanted to be a teacher/coach. My mother was a teacher. Along with my Mom, the many coaches I had, had a big influence over my career choice. I used to work athletic camps in the summer – it has just always been a part of who I am.”
When asked what her favorite thing was about teaching, Fullmer replied, “Being able to be around kids, being able to be a positive influence on them, and to convey to the girls that they can still be a ‘girl’ and be a tough competitor.”
“I am so excited to be the new Physical Education teacher at Stafford and Girls Basketball Coach for Italy High School. Everyone at Stafford has been just wonderful to me. I felt very welcome from the first day I got here. Coach Hollywood at the high school and all the teachers and staff have been so great. I am so excited to be here,” exclaimed Fullmer.
We are so glad you are here Miss Fullmer.
