With several local businesses participating in this years Trick-or-treat on Main Street on October 31, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., downtown Italy transformed into a ghost town, literally, as ghouls, goblins, vampires and spooky costumes of all kinds floated, growled and flapped their way from store front to store front exclaiming, “Trick-or-treat!”

Business workers waited in the doorways ready to drop treats into baskets, plastic pumpkin heads and bags…what ever the kids could find to tote their Halloween candy. Several downtown business helped ensure a gruesome time for the costumed travelers, including First National Bank, Keng Wok, Citizens Bank, Italy Auto Supply, Varner’s Alon, Ronnie Hyles Home Builders, Reflextions Salon and Spa, R.C. Neal, P.C., CPA, and Deonna and Chad Padilla, with their elaborately decorated Bling-n-Blooms shop, who also served hotdogs, nachos and other snacks.

There were plenty of superheroes making their way along the haunted route as well, including Supermans, Captain Americas, Batmans and even the Mario Brothers. Mario and Luigi…superheroes? Well, they did come out with Super Mario Brothers. There were also transformers, fairy princesses, baby skeletons, soldiers, butterflies, and even a pup-kin on a leash.

Mayor Frank Jackson and his staff, along with help from Stafford Elementary 6th grader Taylor Boyd, offered candy to passing trick-or-treaters as well.

The Mayor Jackson thanks all the businesses who participated and for everyone who spent a few minutes of their Halloween in downtown Italy.

We Hope Everyone Had A Happy Halloween!
