Filming underway in Italy, Texas to promote Italian based clothing company
Italy (Texas) — Filming began this week around Italy for a short film/advertisement on behalf of an Italian Clothing Company that wanted to use Italy, USA rather then Italy, France for its backdrop. Jason Baum, with Doomsday Entertainment, out of Los Angeles, has been choreographing the film shoots and has been joined by award-winning director Aoife McArdlea and number of filmmakers, producers and crewman from Austin, Dallas, New York, London, Australia and Ireland. Even the press manager representing the clothing company, that specializes in everyday trendy clothes for teens and early 20 year olds, was on scene after flying in from Italy.
On Sunday, the entire cast and crew filmed on site at the home of Amber and Josh Droll of Italy. The story line had the main characters, a teenage boy and girl who were casted out of Grand Prairie, wearing Italian fashion designs while celebrating her pet dog’s birthday. The dog stars as himself, Shorty, who is the pet of proud owner Sugar Roberts of Italy. In fact, several animals were used during Sunday’s filming and during the mock party, as well, including a calf belonging to Italy’s Larry Eubank, a goat belonging to Anne Sutherland, a horse belonging to Moe Frances of Bardwell, a wolf dog belonging to the Brewer family of Italy and many more.
Several local students were among those filmed including Italy High School cheerleaders, band members and football players. Students who were talented using skateboards, guitars and bicycles were also filmed.
On Monday, the film crew filmed downtown inside Italy’s Uptown Cafe with local star, Ray Don Mitchell, appearing in a scene. A series of curtains, used to contain light, separated the set from the cafe’s regular lunch patrons. The crew also shot a scene inside The Magic Mirror Hair Salon owned by Francis Whitener. The film crew will shoot on site at the Stafford Elementary School tonight at sunset and will wrap up on Wednesday. It may be sometime in March before the completed video goes public but Italy Neotribune will present the final product to its readers as soon as it is made available.
Eventually, the short film will be utilized by the clothing company to help promote its new label by being shown during short film festivals, appearing on monitors within Diesel outlet stores and on the Italian clothing company’s website.
Baum and Doomsday wishes to thank everyone in the community for welcoming the film crew and for being patient with the director’s needs.
