National Weather Service has issued a severe weather warning for parts of North Central Texas, including Ellis County. Italy ISD is early releasing students at 1:15 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 21.

Italy ISD is releasing students early today, Tuesday, May 21, due to a severe weather forecast. The elementary students are being released at 1:15 p.m. The high school/junior high school campus will be releasing at 1:30. A severe storm is expected to pass thru Ellis County around 3:00 p.m. Italy ISD wants the community to feel free come to the dome to seek shelter if the need arises. There have been several activities cancelled this evening. Please read further for more information.

Cancellations

  • Due to the impending weather, the Italy FFA Banquet originally planned for this evening has been postponed until May 30th.
  • This evening’s performance of the first grade play, “Deep in the Jungle,” has been postponed until Friday, May 24th at 6:30.

MIlford ISD is releasing students and running their busses from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Avalon ISD is not releasing students at this time and is remaining on their regular school schedule, commenting,“That is why we have the dome [referring to their reinforced Monolithic dome gymnasium].” The Avalon ISD school administration added, “Although we are not releasing our students early, parents are welcome to pickup their children from the school at anytime.”
