Joy Moneyhon and her mom Alice Riddle are both named Gladiator Fan of the Year
Joy Moneyhon, and her mom, Alice Riddle, who played basketball back in 1938 and 1939, returned to Italy a few years ago and in that time have become two of Italy Athletics most supportive fans. The spirited duo have attended sporting events from football and basketball to volleyball and softball, always dressed in Italy colors.
In appreciation of their support, the Gladiator Athletic Booster Club selected both Joy and Alice as a 2012-2013 Gladiator Fan of the Year. Each received a Gladiator Fan of the Year T-shirt to wear with pride.
In addition to having a Gladiator Fan of the Year sign placed in their front yard to greet passerby’s, Joy and Alice will enjoy reserved up front parking perks designated around the Italy High School campus which is great for Alice who relies on a walker to get her closer to the action.
Alice, who was overwhelmed by the acknowledgement, commented, “This really tops off a good day.”
Thank you, Joy, and thank you, Alice, for your commitment to Italy Athletics and congratulations to each of you on being chosen as the Gladiator Fan of the Year!
Special thanks to Natalie Beck with Rick’s World of Sports of Texas located for donating both shirts:
