Teachers, administrators, former teachers, friends and family were on hand Wednesday to bid a fond farewell to Sharan Farmer, librarian at the Italy ISD.

Farmer, who is completing her 26th year, spent her entire tenure with the Italy ISD. Her first 12 years were spent teaching English and Journalism. She spent the last 14 years serving as the school’s librarian.

Friends and colleagues spent time reminiscing, laughing and even shedding a few tears.

Farmer graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington and earned her Learning Resource Endorsement from Texas Woman’s University.

This summer, Farmer and a group of traveling buddies, will be going to Eastern Europe. They will be visiting Berlin, Germany; Prague, Czech Republic; Krakow, Poland; and Budapest, Hungary.

Farmer has two grown children, Brook and Chance, and an eight-and-a-half month old granddaughter, Kayanna.
