Italy ISD’s dome gymnasium was filled with fifth, sixth, seventh and eight grade students ready to meet Tim Green. Greene was a former football player with the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League and now is a renown author.

Green goes from school to school teaching students the importance of reading and education. He told the students especially the students participating in sports that there are three things you need to be a professional ball player-talent, hard work and luck. He said, “Make sure you get your education, it is most important. You can’t count on sports but you can count on education.”

He said success is not measured by money it is measured by personal relationships. “I am a good Dad, I am a good husband. My wife and my children love me because I give to them. There is nothing more valuable than personal relationships. Success is more about what you give of yourself to others, it shows your character,” explained Green.

Mrs. Farmer (librarian) and Lee Joffre (high school principal) together worked to get Tim Green to come to Italy ISD. Joffre said, “Tim Green makes reading exciting for students. He relates his books to activities in their lives. We are thankful that he is here for our kids.”

Green did not come empty handed. He gave Italy ISD over 100 of his books for our students to read.

Books written by Tim Green are:

Ruffians, Outlaws, The Letter of the Law, The Fourth Perimeter, The Fifth Angel,
The First 48, Pie World, Kingdom Come, American Outrage, Football Genius, Football Hero, Football Champ, Above the Law, Baseball Great, False Convictions, Rivals, The Big Time, Best of the Best, Deep Zone, Pinch Hit, Unstoppable
and Force Out.
