Davee Garcia has taught at Stafford Elementary as the accelerated reading initiative and accelerated math teacher for a year and a half. This year she will be teaching fourth grade english, language arts, writing, reading and social studies. And she can’t wait for the new school year to begin.

When asked how long she has been teaching, Garcia answered, “Even though I haven’t ‘worked’ as a teacher for very long, I’ve always been a teacher. From showing a child how to tie his shoes, teaching a friend how to decorate a cake or showing a parent how to use a program, we all teach others. Overall, I have professionally taught for about two and half years. One year at Plummer Elementary in Cedar Hill teaching 4th grade and a year and a half teaching at Stafford Elementary in Italy.”

Garcia is ready and willing to teach other grade levels in elementary. She explained, “Every age of students brings a unique quality to the classroom.”

When asked if she always wanted to be a teacher she replied, “Growing up I wanted to be many things. For a while i wanted to be a marine biologist. During high school I began to consider teaching or nursing.”

Garcia continued, "I knew I wanted to serve others in some aspect. From childhood and high school experiences, I discovered that teaching or nursing would be excellent career choices for me. I could serve others and make a difference in the lives of others. I also knew I wanted to be a Mom. So, I finally decided that teaching would be the best choice to balance family and work and I have never looked back. "

Her goals for her 4th grade class are that students grow in their love for reading, develop a purpose for being a lifetime writer and appreciate the great State of Texas. She hopes they develop stronger relationships with each other.

Davee has been married to Albert Garcia, Jr. for almost 17 years and they have three children Eli (freshman), Isaac (7th grader) and Adela who will be going into kindergarten this year.

In her spare time Garcia loves watching her kids play sports, edit family photos, update her family blog, camping, reading, sewing, and decorating cakes.

She loves Italy and Stafford Elementary, Garcia said, “My sons grew up going to Stafford. I love it. This school year has not started yet, but I already know the staff and students are fabulous. It’s going to be a great year in the 4th grade!”
