ACCUPLACER test required for all IHS 11th grade dual-credit students
All IHS juniors planning on taking Dual Credit classes must take the ACCUPLACER test.
Navarro does accept the PSAT as a possible exemption from the ACCUPLACER test. In order to use the PSAT as an exemption the overall score must be a 107. The student must have scored at least a 50 in the mathematics section to exempt from the mathematics portion of the ACCUPLACER and at least a 50 in the reading/writing to exempt from the English portion of the ACCUPLACER test.
Ms. Miller is contacting the incoming Junior Dual Credit students to relay the scoring information. The ACCUPLACER test is an assessment approved by the Texas Higher Education Board as an acceptable assessment/placement test for college entrance purposes.
The ACCUPLACER test is a computerized assessment test which covers reading, writing, and math. It also includes a 300-600 word persuasive essay on an assigned topic. You have a total of 3 hours and 10 minutes to complete the test.
To take the test you need to call and schedule an appointment in advance at one of the Navarro college campus testing centers. The contact information for each campus is, Waxahachie: (972) 923-6429, Corsicana: (903) 875-7457, Midlothian: (972) 775-7242, Mexia: (254) 562-3848.
On your test day you must have your photo ID, test payment receipt, and social security number. You will not be admitted with the following items: cell phones, any electronic devices, personal calculators, highlighters, papers, books, backpacks, food, or drink.
Scores for the test are available on the same day.
In the event you fail the test or section of the test, call your Navarro college campus and retake any sections you failed; however, you are required to pay the test fee each time you retest.
Please call Ms. Miller with any questions you have. (972) 483-3222.
