Angela Chambers connects with the kids
Angela Chambers is the new CBI teacher for Stafford Elementary. She has been teaching for eight years and loves her job.
Angela did not always want to be a teacher. She actually got her degree in phycology graduating from Tarleton State University in 2004. She started substitute teaching for Fort Worth ISD in all different grade levels. She was hoping to be a school counselor and wanted to get a feel for the students.
She was asked to sub in the CBI class and she just loved it. She said, “I just loved the kids. It was the best day I ever had. I knew at that moment this is what I was meant to do. I right away felt a magical special connection with these students. I knew instantly this is where I want to be.”
Chambers went back to college at Texas Women’s University in Denton and graduated in 2010 with her masters degree in special education. She explained, “I wanted to be able to learn how best to teach the kids and to be able to give my very best to them.”
She has since then taught three years at Fort Worth ISD as the LINC teacher. LINC stands for Learning in Actual Community. And then at Crawley ISD as the Life Skills teacher for five years.
Angela and her husband Ernest purchased 30 acres of land north of Maypearl and Angela found it necessary to find a job closer to her new home. “The students become ‘my kids’ we become a family. It was very heart wrenching for me to leave ‘my kids’. But we love the land and all that goes with it so I know it was meant to be but it did not make it any easier to say ‘Good Bye,’” explained Chambers.
In her spare time Angela loves to read mysteries and work related books. She and her husband can be found on their back porch enjoying country life watching the jack rabbits, deer and all kinds of species of birds.
“Everyone at Stafford Elementary is so nice and so welcoming. I cannot wait to work together with everyone there for the betterment of the children. I am so glad to be able to be a part of it,” explained Chambers when asked what her thoughts were about Stafford Elementary.
She went on to say, “It is going to be a great year and I can’t wait to get started.”
