Italy High School students enjoy new space
The students at Italy High School are enjoying something new this year when they eat breakfast and lunch. Rhonda Bridges, Director of Student Nutrition, purchased and painted new tables with umbrellas for the courtyard outside the cafeteria.
This is the second full year that Red Oak ISD has the cafeteria contract. Bridges began the face lift last year by painting the high school cafeteria. This year the addition of eight outside tables with umbrellas is another improvement for the student area.
“Mrs. Bridges wants the students to have a social area and a pleasant environment where they eat their meals,” said Desiree Tran, supervisor of Italy ISD food service. “She wants to give them an area where they can relax and enjoy their meal.”
There are six employees that prepare all meals on campus for Stafford Elementary and IHS. At present, the cafeteria workers serve well balanced, nutritious meals to approximately 125 students every day but that will increase throughout the school year.
“People eat with their eyes first. We want the food that we serve the students to look good as well as taste good,” Tran said. “I always want feedback from the students and teachers, even if they don’t like something. The only way we will know is if someone tells us.”
