Nichole Vajdak shares her love of agriculture with her students
Nichole Vajdak is very excited to be one of the Agriculture teachers at Italy High School. She was raised on a farm in Snook, Texas so she has been around animals and ag all her life.
“I have always loved everything about ag,” Vajdak said. “I love to hunt and fish and love animals. I also enjoy growing things. Teaching agriculture is what I wanted to do. I did not like spelling, but loved keeping up with which cow had which calf.”
Nichole will be teaching the first year horticulture class and also floral design. She graduated from Sam Houston State University in December 2011.
She believes one of the most important things she can teach her students is leadership. She wants them to go out and be leaders and be able to speak in front of people. She knows it will be a challenge to get the students to realize their potential.
“I enjoy watching the kids work with their animals. They learn so much working with their animals. I am looking forward to the different shows that we have coming up.”
Vajdak would like to see the agriculture program expand in the future. Offering horticulture classes and floral design are a start.
“We are hoping the community will donate supplies for our floral design class,” Nichole said. “We can use wire, ribbon, and flowers. We also need anything than can be used to place floral arrangements in like vases, jars, and cans.”
Anyone that would like to donate supplies may contact Ms. Vajdak at Italy High School at 972-483-7411.
Nichole will be involved with the Future Farmers of America this year. The first FFA meeting will be September 9, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Ag room at Italy High School.
