Holly Spraberry has taught at Stafford Elementary for 13 years. She taught kindergarten for ten years and for the last two years she taught pre-K. She is so excited about teaching 5th and 6th grade Social Studies this year. There was a need for a teacher and she filled the bill.

Holly explained, “I really miss my babies but I am enjoying fifth and sixth graders and all their different personalities. I know a lot of my students from having them in kindergarten and it is so nice to see how they have grown. My first group of kindergartners graduated last year.”

When asked what the differences were between teaching pre-K and fifth and sixth grade social studies Holly replied, “There is a big difference. With the little ones you have to do so much for them to teach them the basics and just the routine of going to school. For instance, you have to teach them how to get their tray in the lunch room, where to sit and so on. The older students already know how to go to lunch and know the routine of school so you can delve right into the school subjects and start teaching them.”

Spraberry’s goal for her students is to lay the foundation for the students so when they go to the next grade they can keep building on what they have learned.

Stafford Elementary is the first school Mrs. Spraberry has ever taught at, she explained, " I started my teaching career at Stafford, first school I taught at and hopefully will be the last. Stafford teachers, administrators and staff all work toward making a positive environment for the students, who wouldn’t want to be here? "

“I love teaching at Stafford Elementary and am so excited about teaching social studies. It is going to be a great year,” Mrs. Spraberry went on to say.
