Another successful National Night Out in Milford
Every where you looked you saw so many Milford citizens having fun at Milford’s National Night Out Tuesday evening. Smiling, laughing children, lots of adults enjoying the night out with friends and family supporting the Milford Police Department.
There were many booths such as Milford Bulldog’s booth selling tshirts, a booth with sand art, a booth with beads to make jewelry, lots of goodies for the kids to choose from in a booth sporting candy and the Sheriff’s department booth, just to name a few.
Every year Carlos Phoenix (Milford Police Chief) is sitting in the dunking booth waiting for a child to dump him into the water. Well this year was no exception. Chief Phoenix was dumped many, many times into the water. And he always says as he is shaking off water, “Anything for the kids, it is all about the kids.”
This year much to the children’s delight they added a “Pie in the Face” event. A very brave person stands behind the large board and puts his face in the cut out hole. And children line up to be the first to push a pie in some poor person’s face! The laughter of the kids could be heard every where.
Shane Thompson (investigator for the Sheriff’s office) and Rupert Hernandez (deputy for the Sheriff’s office) manned a booth where they talked to kids about safety and handed out materials and trinkets for the kids. Deputy Hernandez said, “We are here tonight to support the Milford Police Department for National Night Out. We want the community to know if they ever need anything we are always available for them.”
Chief Phoenix said happily, “Once again everyone is having a good time. Even the 21 year-old kids are having a blast tonight. We had another good turn out. Once again the community came together to support the Milford Police Department. I had a little child come up to me and she said, ‘I just can’t wait every year for National Night Out to come around’.”
