On Wednesday, October 16 all Italy High School 9th – 11th grade students will take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The PSAT is a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT.

For students in the 9th and 10th grade the results will give the students feedback on areas of strength and weakness. Ninth and tenth grade students can use the results to prepare for the SAT test they will take in their Junior and Senior year.

For students in the 11th grade the test will give them an opportunity to enter the National Merit Scholarship Corporation programs.

The PSAT/NMSQT measures:

• Critical Reading Skills
• Math Problem-Solving Skills
• Writing Skills

The test does not require students to recall specific facts and dates.
