IHS seniors honored with Gold Performance Awards
The Gold Performance Award system is designed to reward Italy High School seniors that have met academic, attendance and behavioral expectations.
“I decided to implement the system to encourage students to achieve greater things. Many students feel high school graduation is an end point to their education,” IHS Principal, Lee Joffre said. “Thus, they often choose to not take a college readiness test. They may also choose to have poor attendance and not focus on acceptable behavior. We at Italy High School want the students to have numerous options when they graduate.”
Joffre said the best way to provide options is to have them demonstrate knowledge by taking an ACT or SAT test, have excellent attendance and make appropriate behavior a habit. If we can accomplish those things with The Gold Performance Award incentive, it is well worth our efforts."
The students must maintain their attendance rate and behavior. They must also have a permission slip signed by a parent on file to leave the campus for lunch.
