What fun the students of Stafford Elementary had last week celebrating Red Ribbon Week! Each day of the school week students were seen walking down the halls dressed in all red, as nerds, in camoflauge, in 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s garb and last but not least black and gold from head to toe!

Every day had a different look but the theme was the same all week long, “Say No to Drugs.” Monday the students wore camoflauge to warn others about the dangers of using drugs. Tuesday the students dressed as nerds and participated in creating posters warning about the dangers of drugs. Wednesday they wore as many red items as they could and signed a drug free pledge card. Thursday was generation day and they dressed up like the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s to tell their generation that doing drugs is not cool. And Friday was Spirit Day and Homecoming so students dressed in as much gold and black as they could.

Red Ribbon Week was started when Enrique “Kiki” Camarena a drug enforcement special agent was killed in 1985 by drug traffickers. So a big effort was made in schools to help inform students about the dangers of drugs.

So, Stafford Elementary students were taught what drugs are and why they are dangerous. Along with learning as usual Stafford students had great fun in learning.

Just another great day at Stafford Elementary!
