Spirits are running high at Milford High School after beating New Castle in the six man semi-finals football game with a 66 – 58 win! They are ready for Saturday when they will play in the six man state championship game against Grandfalls Royalty at 3:00 PM at the AT&T stadium in Arlington.

Coach Ronnie Crumpton along with assistant coaches Otis Carter and Joe Stephens are very proud of their boys and all the effort they have put forth. Crumpton said, “The kids were pretty resilient in the game and were very coachable. This year we sensed no nervousness in them. The seniors this year were our freshman class back when we played in the semi final in 2010 and lost. They are well seasoned now. They took that experience and decided they were not going to be denied this time so they went out there and won it.”

He went on to say, “Even through all the distractions of the weather, me in the hospital for a day and the explosion of the gas pipe, I say we weathered the distractions very well. I encouraged the boys to enjoy the moment, don’t get distracted, just play the way we have practiced all year long—it got us this far.”

Marilee Byrne (principal) said proudly, “We are very fortunate to have three excellent coaches, Otis Carter (assistant), Joe Stephens (assistant) and Ronnie Crumpton (head coach). They are an extremely good influence on the kids. They are teaching life lessons as well as sports.”

Crumpton thanks Mr. Lucus (band director) and the band for playing out in the cold to cheer on their team along with the cheerleaders. He said, “I want to thank the whole school for their support because it really is a group effort”
