Lions Club BBQ Cook-off scheduled for February 21st and 22nd

The Italy Lions Club BBQ Cook-off is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, February 21st and 22nd. This event is sanctioned by the Lone Star BBQ Society. As in years past, the cook-off will be staged at the Upchurch Ball Park at 201 E. Dilworth Road in Italy.

Everyone is welcome to compete as it is not necessary to be an Italy Lions Club member to participate!

Categories:

  • Half Chicken
  • Pork Spare Ribs
  • Brisket
  • Pork Butt
  • Pinto Beans
  • Cook’s Choice

In order to be considered for Grand Champion you must enter the Pork Butt category. Grand Champion will receive free entry to next year’s cook off.

Entry fee for Cook-off is $100. Entry fee covers one or all of the above listed categories.

There will also be a Jackpot Bean category with a $10 entry fee. The beans will be supplied by the Italy Lions Club.

The Cooks Choice category will have a $25 entry fee with 80% payback. Desserts will not be allowed.

The Kids Cook-off, open to the first 25 kids, will be a boneless pork chop that will be provided by the Italy Lions Club. Kids will turn in their cooked pork chop at 8:00pm on Friday, February 21st.

Complimentary breakfast will be served to all entrants and judges Saturday morning.

A chili lunch will be sold starting at 11am (mild or spicy) with or without beans — $5.

Vendor spaces will be available for $20 rental fee.
