The Shooting Sports 4-H Club of Ellis County hosted a successful youth archery tournament on February 22 at the Ellis County Expo in Waxahachie. A total of 109 archers from 17 counties competed to see who could result in the highest marking scores.

First place winners from Ellis County included: Ashlyn Sommers, intermediate, compounded aided girl; Austin Sillavan of Ellis County, intermediate compound unaided boy; Rylee Johnson intermediate recurve unaided girl; Bryce Winfield, junior compound aided boy, Keelan McGonagill, junior recurve un aided boy.

4-H’ers from the shooting sports club practice archery weekly. The Ellis County club will host a Spring 3D Archery Tournament at the Ellis County Sportsman’s Club on – March 29th and a Fall 3D Archery Tournament on Sept. 6th. For more information on 4-H, contact the county extension office.
