The Italy Community Activities Committee held their second meeting Monday night at 5:30 PM. Committee members in attendance were: Ronda Cockerham, Nancy Hinojosa, Chelsea Beets, Christopher Baker, Christina Ward, Sarah Reid and Joseph Barrett.

The committee looked over the flyers and vendor applications for the Mayor’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt and for the Cinco De Mayo Festival that Chelsea Beets submitted for approval. The members liked the flyers and vendor applications and voted unanimously to approve them. They also gave their approval to start putting them up around town.

Next they went over the proposal that Nancy Hinojosa typed up to present to the City Council on their finances. The proposal also asked that funds that were raised by fund raisers for the different activities would be kept separate. They decided to go over any changes on the proposal and agreed to put it up for approval at the next meeting.

The committee then went over procedures to be followed for the Mayor’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt. They discussed having leaders over each age group of children that wanted to hunt for eggs. Bryant Cockran has volunteered to be the ‘Master of Ceremonies’ and do the music. Pastor Joseph Barrett volunteered to be his assistant. Nancy Hinojosa will be in charge of bringing the “Bunny Snacks” which will consist of cookies and punch. She will also be over handling Thank You letters for donations. Sarah Reid will be in charge of co-ordinating all of the eggs. They still are in need of plastic eggs, candy, money donations to purchase these things and volunteers. They need more volunteers.

Next up on the agenda was Italy’s Annual Cinco De Mayo Fiesta. The committee made the motion of not having money donated to scholarships from money raised from vendor booths because there were too many legalities involved. The motion passed unanimously. Nancy Hinojosa and Christina Ward were voted in to be in charge of the vendors forms. Chelsea Beets was voted in to be in charge of the handmade plaques to be awarded for the Salsa contest and the Guacamole contest.

The next meeting will be April 17th 2014 at 5:30 PM.
