Pre-kindergarten Round-up at Stafford Elementary will be on May 1,2014 from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Italy ISD is interested in providing an all day free pre-kindergarten to all children in our community who are at least 4 years of age for the 2014-2015 school year. If you are interested and would like your child to have the privilege of attending pre-school for no charge please attend this Round-up meeting. By attending this meeting you will help the school gain information that will be used to develop a cost analysis and proposal to better meet the needs of your children.

Why have your child go to preschool? Because they will then be prepared for kindergarten and will be learning many important skills such as:

• The important social, physical, emotional and thinking skills they need for success.
• Prekindergarten improves children’s reading and writing skills.
• Kids who go to Prekindergarten show improvements in social skills, behavior and conduct and do better in grades K-12.
• In pre-kindergarten your children will spend time having fun and learning at the same time.

Some of the things they will be doing are:

• Learning the ABC’s
• Making friends
• Singing songs
• Listening and following directions
• Reading stories
• Writing simple words
• Learning to write their names
• Counting up to thirty
• Developing basic math skills
• Talking about plants and animals
• Learning about shapes
• Coloring, painting and cutting paper
• Being active and healthy by running, jumping, playing and dancing

Italy ISD needs to know who is interested in having their children attend preschool to let them know if they will have enough students to go forward with this plan.
