Pamela Thomas joins the Stafford Elementary team as the new principal
Stafford Elementary’s new principal is Pamela Thomas and she is like a breath of fresh air. She has so many ideas for our school. She loves Italy, Stafford Elementary and all it’s teachers and staff.
Pamela was born in Berkley, California and moved to Groesbeck, Texas where she was raised with many brothers and sisters. She participated in all sporting events until she graduated from Groesbeck High School and decided to join the military as opposed to playing basketball in college.
She attended and completed her Associates, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degree while in the United States Air Force at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Her intent was to be an Airport Manager at Houston Intercontinental Airport but her sister had let her know of a need for teachers in her district. She attended McLennan Community College with Troops to Teachers assistance and completed with her educational Alternative Teacher Certification.
While getting her degrees Pamela was fortunate to be nominated and win numerous military awards, obtain dean’s list recognition as well as continuous 100% passing rates in the classroom which led to the educational Golden Apple Award.
Thomas was a teacher for seven years and taught self-contained 3rd grade, departmentalized reading and social studies for the 4th & 5th grades, as well as being the assistant coach for 7th and 8th grade basketball, volleyball, and track.
When asked if she always wanted to be in education and what was her ‘Ah-Ha’ moment? Pamela replied, “When I became a mother and my husband and I were helping our children at every base in the youth center department at the gym or church; I noticed how we inspired and motivated our children as well as others. While stationed in New Jersey, I completed my substitute teacher certification and the educational journey began. I loved helping all ages, from early childhood to high school.”
Pamela went on with her education to be a principal because she loved how the students loved the classroom, loved learning, how they wanted to stay a little longer to complete a task. But when they would say to her, “You care. Can you please follow us to the next grade?” is all it took. She decided she could do more in making a difference as a principal and reach more students, parents and make a real difference in their lives.
When asked what new things do you hope to bring to Stafford, she replied, “I will understand and follow expectations set by the superintendent, have a strong working relationship with staff, and guide our students as we journey to meeting all 21st century technological advances with exemplary goals.”
Pamela said, “I know Stafford Elementary is the most caring, actively engaged, motivating and encouraging greatest school in the ‘Best Littlest 2A Town’ in Texas.”
We are so glad you are here Pamela Thomas!
