Enjoy images from Milford’s 2014 Homecoming Parade and game against Oakwood
Milford — Enjoy images from the Milford Bulldogs and their Friday homecoming events that began with a downtown parade followed by a pep rally in the park.
A rousing speech was served up during the pep rally by canine friend Ron Scott who sneered, “When it comes to kittens, I’m a dog lover,” as he showed his partialness to his beloved Bulldogs as they prepared for battle against the visiting Oakwood Panthers.
The evening ended with head coach Ronnie Crumpton and the Bulldogs defeating the Oakwood Panthers 64-21.
Bulldog quarterback Tyler Fedrick completed 3-of-4 passes for 38 yards with Juan Venegas catching all three of Fedrick’s passes including one for a touchdown. Venegas is also the team’s center which is one of the exciting features of 6-man football.
Running back Jaquay Brown singed the Panther fur with his blazing speed out of the backfield while totaling 143 rushing yards on 13 carries (11.0 average). Brown’s longest run covered 33 yards as the senior put up 4 touchdowns on the night against Oakwood.
Not to be out done was teammate TraVion Jones who carried the pigskin 10 times for 148 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns. Keith Kayser added 43 rushing yards on 4 carries and Daren Cisneros covered 30 yards in 3 totes.
Milford Gerardo Yanez, a freshman, cleared the crossbar on 5-out of-6 attempts during point-after kicks.
Brown also led the Bulldog defense with 12 solo tackles, Cisneros had 10 solo tackles and Robbie Johnson and Jones had 9 tackles apiece. Fedrick recorded 6 tackles, Kayser had 5 tackles, Yanez had 3 tackles, Jarvis Harris had 2 tackles and Cole Falzerano had 1 tackle for the Bulldog cause against Oakwood.
Falzerano and Cisneros each had fumble recoveries while teammates Johnson and Fedrick both recorded interceptions for Milford. All-in-all, it was a well-rounded victory for the Bulldogs with all three varsity cheerleaders including Gabby Rose, Corrie Dawkins and Evy Ewing cheering their team forward!!!
During halftime, Brittany Scamahorn was crowned the 2014 Milford High School Homecoming Queen and Keith Kayser was named the 2014 Milford High School Homecoming King. Congrats to the Bulldogs’ King and Queen!
Band director Mark Lucas and the Bulldog Band deserve a paw on the back after providing the music during the parade, the pep rally and during all four quarters of the game.
The Bulldogs are currently 3-2, 1-2 at Home on the season after coming off a bye last week. Milford’s next game will be away and is scheduled for Friday, October 10, in what will be a district matchup against Head Coach Cody Davis and the Avalon Eagles (2-3). Expect the Eagles to take the field with their feathers all riled up after suffering a loss to Mount Calm in their last outing.
