Italy residents Murrie Wainscott and his wife Brenda are inviting everyone in the community to join them in the 2014 staged production of the Waxahachie Old Fashioned Singing Project Heaven’s Front Porch being presented inside Waxahachie’s historic Chautaugua Auditorium in Getzendaner Park.

The Wainscott’s attended the performance the first 2 years as audience members. This season, however, Murrie and Brenda will mark their second season as performers in the one hour-and-45-minute production which features brush-arbor music from the first half 20th century.

Religious revival meetings termed brush-arbor meetings originated in the late 1700s and continued into the 1900s — at which people covered their shelters with vegetation to keep the rain out during rousing meetings that included the singing of traditional gospel music. Brush-arbor meetings are sometimes called protracted meetings or camp meetings.
