IHS 2015 Prom Comes Home – Voici a la nuit….
This year, the junior class decided to have prom at Italy’s Community Center. The City of Italy allowed the school use of the facility for free, which was and is much appreciated; the students and sponsors, led by Mrs. WIndham, worked hard to make prom a night to remember.
This year’s theme, ‘Voici a la nuit’—Here’s to the Night—had décor made up of Eiffel towers and elegant lighting, colors, and props. The students entered on ‘red carpet,’ and valet parkers were available for those who took advantage of it. Food was generously donated by junior class parents, by Chili’s in Waxahachie, and sweet tea was provided by Chicken Express in Waxahachie. There was more than enough to last all night long. Jon Mathers was the DJ for the evening. He took senior students’ requests prior to the prom and had a playlist full of music to dance the night away. Jeremiah Glover volunteered to take candid pictures throughout the night—those are available to peruse at the following site: http://j-glover-photography.smugmug.com/School/Italy-2015-Sr-Prom/
Prom King, Samuel Corley, and Prom Queen Madison Washington were crowned after voting took place by their peers. Only Italy students were allowed to vote. Other titles voted by IHS students for the night included Prince, Ty Windham; Princess, Jozie Perkins; Best Dancer, Boy, Ryan Connor; Best Dancer, Girl, Kelsey Nelson; Best Dressed Boy, Jorge Galvan; and Best Dressed Girl, Halee Turner.
For the City of Italy that provided the venue and for all who planned, helped, provided food, attended, and cleaned up, the junior class would like to say, “Thank You.” They hope the experience created was enjoyed by all and will be a special memory made during their years at IHS.
