UT-Pan American Tubas to Perform in Italy…Texas
Ever heard a musical selection performed by just tubas and euphoniums (baby tubas, aka baritones)? No, we’re not talking about the oom-pahs often associated with the instrument in marches or circus music. We’re talking about a full-fledged piece of music by a well-known composer such as Dmitri Shostakovich, or the march master Karl King. Well, don’t give up on yourself just yet.
On Tuesday, May 19 at 7:00pm in the Italy High School gym, you will get to hear not only one but five selections performed by the award-winning UT-Pan American Tuba- Euphonium Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Scott Roeder. The ensemble will be stopping in Italy enroute to a performance at the prestigious Great Plains Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference in Oklahoma City.
The concert in Italy will be free and promises to be an event you won’t soon forget . . . sort of like eating jelly beans that taste like buttered popcorn. See you there!
