It’s time for the 27th Annual Ellis County Youth Expo! This year, the week of April 4-9, students from Ellis County will have the opportunity to put on display what hard work and dedication truly mean. Students from FFA, 4-H and FCCLA have been planning and preparing their projects for this important week for over a year, in some cases. Each of the exhibitors you will see this week, whether from the Creative Arts, Ag. Mechanics or the Livestock division have great pride and honor in the product they will present.

I encourage everyone to join us ring side at 5:00pm on Monday afternoon for the 2016 Ellis County Youth Expo Opening Ceremonies to be led by 4-H and FFA members in the proud official dress of their respective organizations!

Breeding Rabbit and Boilers will wrap up Monday evening.

The Market Lamb show begins at 1:00pm on Tuesday and will be followed by the Market Rabbit show at 2:00 and finally the Goat show at 5:00.

Wednesday will begin in the morning at 8:00 with the evaluation of the Ag. Mechanics projects followed by the Creative Arts show at 9:30. These projects will open for public viewing from noon until 4:00pm. You won’t want to miss this opportunity!

The always highly anticipated Swine show begins at 2:00pm on Wednesday!

There will be no activities Thursday as hundreds of Ellis County’s FFA and 4-H members will be competing in Stephenville at the Tarleton State University Judging Contests. A strong testament as to the quality of leadership being produced in Agricultural Education across the county!

This year, on Friday morning, the Ellis County Youth Expo has added a special event, A Day in the Ring. This show will showcase the talents of special needs youth from across the county, as they pair up with their 4-H/FFA show buddy and show their animal. We are extremely excited to offer this show, and can’t wait to see all of the youth!

Friday afternoon brings the judging to a competitive and exciting end with the Breeding Heifer show at 3:00pm and the Market Steer show at 5:00pm.

Saturday is the day all of these hard working and dedicated exhibitors have had in their sights from the beginning of this project year. The Sale of Champions will begin with a BBQ lunch at 11:00am and gavel will drop at 12:00pm!

The Sale of Champions is everyone’s opportunity to let the Agricultural youth of Ellis County know how important they are and that their future is at the forefront of Ellis County’s business and industry!
