The 2009 Italy High School Homecoming festivities will begin this Friday, September 25. The afternoon will be chocked full of activities beginning at 3:00. Both the High School and Stafford Elementary campuses will be releasing students from classes early so that everyone can join in the fun.

The first order of business will be the Homecoming Parade. It will start at the High School Campus and travel down College Street, then through downtown on Hwy 34, taking a left on Ridge and circling back to the High School.

Once the parade has made it back to the High School the pep rally will begin. The exact location (dome, football field, or parking lot) has not been announced at this time. Last year’s pep rally was held in the High School parking lot. Regardless of the exact location it will be loud and proud and everyone is invited to attend. During the pep rally the crowning of the 2009 Homecoming King will take place.

Beginning at 5:00 pm the George Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund dinner will begin. The barbecue meal, catered by Bubba’s of Ennis, will be held in the High School Cafeteria. It is a great place to congregate and visit with friends while supporting a hugely worthwhile event before the big game. The meal costs $6.00 and donations are gladly accepted.

And finally, kick off for the battle between our Italy Gladiators and the Frost Polar Bears will be at 7:30. This game also represents our district opener. Get there early to purchase your souvenir program. These programs feature several pages of picture collages featuring IHS alumni.

As is tradition, the 2009 Homecoming Queen will be crowned during the halftime show that will feature our Gladiator Regiment Band. Go Gladiators!
