Letter to the Editor: An invitation
Community,
The varsity boys football team has made it to the State Quarterfinals. They will be playing Goldthwaite in Glen Rose Friday at 7:30 PM. The students at the high school have worked extremely hard. This includes in the classroom, Band, Ag, Athletics, FCCLA, Theater and other areas. Some of the kids’ accomplishments are:
- Over 92% of the students at the high school are passing all of their classes.
- The high school earned recognition from ACT for increasing the average ACT composite score while increasing the number of students testing.
- The band has continued their success and had three participants receive individuals awards this past week at All Region competition.
- Many students have started a dual credit welding course in which they will be certified by the college when they complete their third year.
- A student won a gold and a silver medal at last year’s state track meet.
- The Ag department has rebuilt the barn for student use and built a new concession stand.
- A student signed a Division 1 Letter of Intent this year and has received a full scholarship.
- Last year our FCCLA students made it to state competition and are preparing for another competitive season.
- Our One Act Play participants are preparing for a great year in competition.
- The girls softball team made it to the State Quarterfinals last year.
- And many of you have seen how the Italy students serve the community through different organizations and churches in town.
Although the excitement is about football, kids in Italy are doing many great things. The football team is just bringing it all together in a common venue to celebrate student success and community achievement.
I hope you will come to Glen Rose this Friday to celebrate with the kids of Italy.
