The Milford Cash Grocery building was gutted by fire Tuesday night. However, thanks to the exhaustive efforts of local firefighters, adjacent structures were spared and no one was injured.

Firemen and their families gathered at Central Baptist Church on Tuesday night for the annual Firemen Appreciation Dinner. Honored were Emergency Service District #3 (ESD). Brad Chambers, 12 year fireman, was honored as Italy Fireman of the Year.

A house explosion at the intersection of Morgan Road and Highway 77, between Italy and Milford, rattled homes in both towns providing an alarming start to everyone’s Sunday morning around 7:05 a.m.

For the 8th year in a row, our local volunteer fire department was honored on Sunday with an appreciation ceremony and lunch in conjunction with the remembrance of 9-11.

Twenty to 48, those are the ages of the men graduating from the Italy Fire Academy this week. A total of eight came through with flying colors and will be nationally tested on Thursday morning at Navarro College.

Last night at 8:53 PM the Milford Fire Department was called out to a fire on the 500 block of Frank’s Road in Milford. An abandoned mobile home had caught on fire and burned. Italy and Milford fire fighters were out fighting the blazing flames until 1:30 AM.

Monolithic Constructors sometimes burns green waste. Their property is located outside of the city limits. Monday was no exception except the choice to burn that day was probably not a good idea.
