The Italy ISD Board of Trustees will meet on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Agenda items include recognition of the Employee of the Month, staff resignations, budget amendments, and HVAC and roofing renovations.

The IISD Board will meet Tuesday, March 24 in the administration offices at 300 South College, Italy. The agenda includes recognition of the Employee of the Month, Kyle Holley, discussion of a three-year plan on lighting, roof and HVAC renovations and disposition of surplus property policy. Teacher contracts will be discussed during Executive Session.

The IISD Board will meet Thursday, February 26 in the administration offices at 300 South College, Italy. Poll location, early voting preparation and the agreement of joint city and school board elections will be considered. There will be two, 2-year term board trustee positions up for election. Other items on the agenda include review of 2009-2010 school calendar and contract renewals for Director of Special Programs, Principal(s) and Athletic Director. Clint Husley, P.E. of Husley Engineering is scheduled to give a presentation before the Italy ISD Board of Trustees tonight. Following the presentation, the board will go into a private meeting the annual evaluation of the superintendent as well as discuss 2009’s performance goals and objectives. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Italy Administration offices at the high school.

Sharan Farmer, Italy ISD librarian, was named Employee of the Month by Jimmie Malone, superintendent, at the Italy School Board of Trustees regular meeting held Monday evening.

The Community Based Instruction (CBI) Class at Italy High School displayed their unselfishness at the Italy School Board of Trustee’s monthly meeting held Monday night. The CBI class, taught by Kelly Vernon, won the football signed by more than two dozen Dallas Cowboys at Italy’s Homecoming in October. The class donated the football to the school district at the meeting.

Kelly Vernon and students plan to give a special presentation at the Italy ISD regular school board meeting tonight. The board will also discuss what to do with the additional funds from the recent tax changes approved by the voters. Other business includes the standard reports. The planned executive session includes discussing the Business Manager vacancy and school property at 500 College Street. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the administration offices at the high school. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Italy School Board of Trustees named Craig Bales athletic director and head coach at the board’s monthly meeting held Monday evening.

Monday, October 6, Italy’s Economic Development Corporation (EDC) will be meeting with Italy’s Independent School District board. An EDC presentation will be given by Mark Stiles, followed by a question and answer period for all attendees. This portion of the joint meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers of the Italy Municipal Building at 101 Main Street. All are welcome to attend.

"We are now using a Content Management System which allows us to easily input and control a variety of information and school news by multiple authors, managers and publishers.

Monday, September 22, the Italy ISD board will hold a called meeting. A public forum will be followed by administrative and financial reports. Two surplus vehicles will be discussed and insurance through the TASB will be up for approval. The last item of business on the agenda is personnel considerations. The meeting will be at 5 p.m. in High School Band Hall at 300 South College Street. All are welcome to attend.

The Italy School Board of Trustees is asking voters in the district to vote on a $0.13 tax rate increase. This increase will add an additional $481,500 to the budget for the 2008/2009 school year and each year thereafter until the State Legislature changes current law. The board, however, cannot raise the tax rate without the approval of voters.
