Today, Tuesday, May 4, 2010, there will be a special called meeting of the Italy ISD Board of Trustees. The agenda states that the meeting will be conducted primarily in executive session to consider personnel recommendations.
The Italy School Board of Directors approved a 2010-2011 school calendar at its monthly meeting held Monday evening.
On Monday, April 19 the Italy ISD Board of Trustees will have their regular monthly meeting. The meeting will be held in the Band Hall of the Italy High School campus (300 College) and will begin at 7:00pm. Agenda items include staff resignations, the 2010-2011 school calendar, a budget amendment and the student athlete insurance carrier.
The Italy School Board of Directors approved teacher contracts for 2010-2011 at its monthly meeting held Monday evening.
On Monday, March 22nd the Italy ISD Board of Trustees will have their regular monthly meeting. The meeting will be held in the Band Hall of the Italy High School campus (300 College) and will begin at 7:00pm. Agenda items include teacher resignations, teacher contract recommendations and renewals and an acknowledgement of donated funds. The superintendent will also report regarding the football field renovations that are currently underway.
Italy ISD will dismiss classes early on Friday, March 5. The administration has decided to release all campuses at 1:30 in order to allow the Gladiator fans to make the trip to Abilene to support the basketball boys in their regional playoff game on Friday night.
Your 2009-10 Italy Gladiator Yearbook will be a treasured keepsake and a lasting memory of the school year at Italy High School. Order are being taken now thru April 3, 2010.
Due to bad weather, school will be closing early at 2:00pm today, Tuesday, February 23rd. It will resume at a later time on Wednesday: 10:00am for faculty and 10:30am for students
The Italy School Board of Trustees voted Monday evening to extend the administrative contracts to 2012 for Penny Mattson, director of special programs; Carolyn Maevers, Stafford Elementary principal; Tanya Parker, seventh through twelfth grade principal; and Craig Bales, athletic director.

Italy ISD students will not have class tomorrow, Friday, February 12 due to the winter weather. The boys basketball games against Itasca will be rescheduled.
The Italy School Board of Trustees extended Superintendent Jimmie Malone’s contract for an additional year Tuesday night at its monthly meeting. The vote was not unanimous, however, as Cheryl Owen and Curtis Riddle voted against extending the contract.

Italy Independent School District was awarded a matching grant of $25,000 from Oncor for increasing the efficiency of the lighting system at Italy Junior and Senior High Schools. The district received the grant through Oncor’s Take A Load Off, Texas School Matching Grant Program.
Governor Rick Perry has proclaimed January as School Board Recognition Month to help highlight the contributions of dedicated men and women who take the time to care about our local schools. The Italy ISD will join districts across the state to thank board members for voluntarily tackling the enormous job of governing local school districts.

Charlotte Morgan, first grade teacher at Stafford Elementary, was recognized Monday evening as October Employee of the Month at the monthly meeting of the Italy School Board of Trustees.
Stafford Elementary will closed on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 due to water line break. Texas Department of Health Regulations and the Texas Education Agency will not allow schools to be in session without running water.

After monitoring staff and student illness-related absenteeism, our school district will dismiss @ 1:30p.m. on both Thursday & Friday, October 15th and 16th.
Italy ISD offers comprehensive special education services to eligible students ages three through 21 years and to children from birth through 21 years who have a hearing or visual impairment.
Italy ISD offers services to gifted and talented students in a variety of formats. If your student is not currently identified as gifted and talented, and you believe that your child shows these tendencies, then you may nominate him/her for the screening process which is divided into three elements: standardized test of mental ability, teacher judgment based on observation and characteristics, and standardized achievement test scores (if available).

The Italy ISD Board of Trustees will meet on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Agenda items include considering bids for surplus property as well as consider approval of the interlocal agreement with the City of Italy regarding the Park. During executive session the board will consider the applicants for the Junior High/High School Principal and Director of Special Programs positions.
The Italy School Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of Pam Luttrull, special education director, at a called meeting Tuesday evening.
Italy ISD will destroy special education records from the 2001-2002 school year for students who moved, graduated and/or exited the program during that school year. Parents who would like to have their students special education records retained should contact Kristi Dollar, Italy ISD Special Programs Secretary.

Ellis County Justice of the Peace Jackie Miller Jr. administered the oath of office to Marty Haight and Cheryl Owen, newly elected members of the Italy Independent School Board of Trustees, Monday evening. Owen won her second term in office and Haight replaces Ricky Boyd.

Speed Hamby has been employed by Italy ISD for three years this coming June as the director of maintenance and transportation. He is over the custodial and maintenance staff, orders supplies and keeps up with mowing the grounds and keeping them beautiful.
