Italy EDC approves receiving deed to historic cemetery

In their regular monthly meeting Monday night, the Italy Economic Development Corporation unanimously voted to receive the deed to the Historic Texas Hardeman Cemetery at 473 Kinfolk Lane with the stipulation that the cost to receive the deed not exceed $5,000 and the current land owner allow access to the cemetery. The Hardeman Cemetery is located on land adjacent to the 67.273 acres of land the EDC purchased earlier in the year.

EDC considers new waterline loop project

The Italy Economic Development Corporation held their regular meeting Monday night in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building. After a lengthy discussion and a presentation by Public Works Superintendent, Dean Carrell, the members voted to spend up to $300,000 on a waterline to loop the water system for businesses on Dale Evans Drive (Hwy 34). They also voted to use KSA Engineering (the City’s Engineering Firm) for the project. Before the project can begin, they will need City Council approval.

EDC unanimously voted to purchase City Seal for Pavilion

During the regular meeting of the Italy Economic Development Corporation Monday night Charles Hyles (president) reported on the progress of the walking trail at Upchurch Ball Fields. He said the sand volleyball court is now ready to be put in. The sand has arrived and was donated by Jarod Mandrell. Hyles also reported there is $2,925.00 left in the walking trail fund.

Public hearing notice: Italy EDC

In accordance with the Development Corporation Act, Section 505.159 of the Texas Local Government Code, a public hearing will be held by the Italy Economic Development Corporation, a Type B corporation, on Monday, April 22, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Italy Municipal Building, located at 105 West Main Street, Italy, Texas, to consider and take action upon the following project: Upchurch Fields Walking Trail Project.
