On Friday, March 13 at 8 pm. “Dateline NBC” channel 5 will be airing a 2 hour program on Shelley Nance. Shelley was a 2007 graduate of Italy High School who was a victim of homicide in Sept 2009 while a student of the Art Institute of Dallas.
Cynthia Nance was proud to award the Shelley Nance Memorial Art Scholarship on May 15, 2014 in the amount of $1,000 to Italy High School senior Joseph Sage.
Shelley Nance Memorial Art Exhibit will be held on Saturday July 27 from 5-7 pm at the Italy Community Center downtown Italy. Admission is Free. Donations will be accepted but not required for admission. Please come as we share our daughter’s talent with the Italy community.
Again this year, the Nance family is preparing for the Shelley Nance Memorial Art Scholarship which will be awarded to a graduating Italy High School senior. The scholarship recipient has to be furthering their education after High School with a college degree studying in the field of art. Last year Heather Maynard was awarded $1000 toward her college education.
As if the news of the death of 2007 IHS graduate, Shelley Nance, was not shocking enough, the story of the investigation surrounding her murder is heartbreaking.
Saturday, May 7th the Ellis County Art Museum was honoring Shelley Nance’s memory by having an art show of her artwork. The place was over flowing with people viewing her wonderful artwork. People came and went all evening until 8:00 pm.
The family of Shelley Nance has created the Shelley Nance Memorial Art Scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior of Italy High School beginning the year 2011. Samantha (Shelley) Nance, a brilliant artist and a 2007 IHS graduate, will continue to be lovingly remembered after her Memorial Garden dedication ceremony at Italy High School on Monday, May 24, held to honor her life.
This loving young soul was taken away too early from us, Samantha Michelle (Shelley) Nance, went to be with the lord on Sept. 11, 2009. Shelley was an award winning artist. She was a student at the Art Institute of Dallas. She was majoring in multi-media arts and animation. She loved animals, computers, and anything to do with art. This 20 yr old woman was well on her way to achieving her life’s dreams of being an artist.
When several members of the Italy High School Class of 2007 heard that one of their classmates had died, they were shocked and saddened. They could not imagine Samantha Michelle Nance (Shelley) not being with them anymore. As they heard the reports of her murder, they questioned why.
